Full sets, refills and toes: what each row costs, and why removal is a booked service.
What is on the acrylic menu
A full set is from $50 with standard polish and from $60 with gel polish. A refill is from $45, or from $55 with gel polish. Acrylic on toes is its own row, from $65, because it is a separate booking rather than an addition to a set on your hands.
A refill closes the gap that opens at the cuticle as the nail grows. The lifted edge is taken back, the regrowth is filled level with the rest, and the nail is rebalanced and refinished. A full set starts again from the natural nail, which is what you want if the shape has stopped suiting you or too many nails have been repaired. Most people settle into a refill every two to three weeks.
One broken nail is a nail repair from $5 rather than a new set, and it is worth booking promptly: a lifted nail lets moisture sit underneath it. An add-on manicure is $15 on the same booking.
Why acrylic and not one of the others
Liquid monomer and powder polymer are mixed at the brush and shaped onto the nail, where they harden in the air rather than under a lamp. What sets is rigid, and that is where the whole case for acrylic comes from: it holds length and shape that a softer system will not, and it takes the knocks that hands in use give it.
It is the wrong answer if what you want is your own nails reinforced, which is builder gel nails, or a lighter overlay with a more natural feel, which is SNS dip powder nails.
Removal is a booked service
Acrylic does not lift off the way a gel polish does. It has to be reduced and soaked off, and a set that is picked or prised off at a desk takes layers of natural nail with it. That is where most of the damage people blame on acrylic actually comes from.
Acrylic removal is from $25 and includes the nails cut back, shaped and finished with a strengthening polish, so you leave with them tidy rather than bare and ragged. If your current set was put on somewhere else and you are not certain what is on your nails, say so when you book: acrylic, dip powder and builder gel come off differently, and knowing which it is before you sit down saves the appointment.
